Ivar Vigla - Soome (Original) (English translation)

Estonian

Soome (Original)

Helsingi viisa natsa viibib taas
kui seda ei saa, lähen segi vist peast
lõpuks rusikaga lõin nagu Edgar Savisaar

Selle peale antigi paberid need
tõesti nendeta oleksin kadunud mees
ja trügisin laevale nimega Georg Ots

Vaata Soome see on põtrade maa kus
peetakse lugu ka töömehest heast
seal alennusmüükidel marka veeretan

Kui homme näen vanu tuttavaid
räägin neile kirbutori seiklustest vaid
ja surnud autod laeva lükkan taas

Soome,Soome - perkele Soome ma tahan sinna saada (yy kaa koo nee)
Soome,Soome,Soome sinna tahan vaid
Soome,Soome -perkele Soome ma tahan sinna jääda (aijaa)
Soome,Soome,Soome sinna tahan vaid

Reisi lõpp aga läheneb ja
kallis marga kurss ta kahaneb
Ankeete täidan tollis mõnuga
Vaata inimese elu see on isemoodi kallis
ja ta ei sõltu valitsevast mallist
ja reisikotti viinad peidan taas

Soome,Soome perkele Soome ma tahan sinna saada (yy kaa koo nee)
Soome,Soome,Soome sinna tahan vaid
paljonko se maksa , paljonko se maksaa, ihan hyvin tunnetko (joo joo)
Soome,Soome,Soome sinna tahan vaid

Haluatteko vodkaa?
Ei se maksa paljon vain 50 mk kpl,
vain 50
kippis
hei hei kippis

Mustad mehed sadamas küll kauplesid
minu margad ostsid ja lõpuks kaklesid
Sellest filmi tegi heategev "Wigla show"
Eihän saatana toi ole minu syy että
nõukkujen ruplilla kauppa ei kay
vodkakaupp on ja Soome on ihan hyvin tunnettu

Submitter's comments:

(Some parts of this song are Finnish, but the majority is Estonian, so I'll just say it's Estonian)
(Also, the other version of this song on the site is a Finnish translation, the song is originally Estonian)

Finland

My visa to Helsinki is delayed again
If I don't get it, I'll go a bit nuts
Finally striking with my fists like Edgar Savisaar*

And then there's a bunch of papers
Really, without them I'd be a lost man
And force my way onto the ship named Georg Ots*

You see, Finland is the land where the reindeer are
With esteemed and experienced workers
There I toss marks at bargain sales

If I see old friends tomorrow
I'll only tell them of my adventures in the flea market
And push carwrecks to the ship again

Finland, Finland, Perkele* Finland, I want to get there
Finland, Finland, Finland, I just want to be there
Finland, Finland, Perkele Finland, I want to stay there
Finland, Finland, Finland, I just want to be there

My trip is coming to a close, and
The rate of the expensive mark is decreasing
With pleasure, I fill out the questions in customs
You see, everyday life is quite costly
And it doesn't depend on who's in power
And once again I hide my liquor in my bag

Finland, Finland, Perkele* Finland, I want to get there
Finland, Finland, Finland, I just want to be there
"How much it costs, how much it costs, you know quite well"
Finland, Finland, Finland, I just want to be there

"Would you like some vodka?
It doesn't cost much, only 50 marks per litre
Only 50
Cheers!
Hey, hey, cheers!"

While black men traded in the port
I bought my marks and ended up fighting
In this cheritable film "Wigla Show"*
"Damn it, it's not my fault
That you can't bargain with soviet rubles
Vodka trade and Finland are known quite well"

Author's comments:

*Edgar Savisaar = current mayor of Tallinn - controversial politician

*Georg Ots = estonian opera singer (deceased) - has an asteroid named after him!

*Perkele = god of thunder in Finnish mythology

*Wigla Show = Estonian sketch comedy show

The parts in "quotes" were in Finnish, so I used a translator and a translation of the Finnish version as a reference. The Estonian and Finnish might have errors, so corrections are welcome.
