Foreign languages and cultures, music and literature, travel (in the profile photo: Kykkos monastery, Cyprus).
I work as a freelance translator, but my professional translations usually have little to do with any kind of arts.
I love music and I love languages, so I am glad to have found a website where I can combine my interests in a way that is both pleasant and instructive. I am a native speaker of Polish. I am fluent in English (I have a diploma in English Studies) and I can communicate easily in Catalan, Italian, Spanish and French. I also studied Portuguese and Russian, but my level is rather basic.
My priorities are Catalan and Italian, but I like to diversify my translations, so I also translate from/to Spanish, French and English. Occasionally, I might also translate (indirectly) from other languages, but these translations require extra effort and extra time.
The songs that I choose not necessarily reflect my personal views and opinions, that's why among my translations you might find a religious song, even though I'm not a believer, or a Soviet march, even though I'm not a communist. There are limits, though, and there might be songs I would not translate; the major criterion is my personal assessment of the song, of both its music and lyrics.
When I pick out songs for translation, my personal preferences and choices are considered first. From time to time I might respond to a request submitted on LT if I'm not too busy and if I like the song enough to dedicate my time to its translation. I'm pretty selective, though, so please don't be offended if I disregard your request. Please don't send me requests directly via PM.
Proofreading is not quite my cup of tea. I won’t be very helpful in this respect, I’m afraid; but I try to be fair and I don’t request proofreading, either.
