Anastacia - Trop lourd dans mon cœur (English translation)

English translation

My heart is too heavy

I saw the sky darken unexpectedly,
everything just collapses like a house of cards,
but how can I put it,
since with every breath I take
I feel like a knife
stabbing inside of me.

I tought I would never want to smile ever again1,
or even watch the sun rise.
What is a violin without a bow,
a painting without light,
as I see life...
leaving me?

My heart is too heavy2
for me to get over it
(My heart is too heavy)
All I can do is run
(My heart is too heavy)
Come to my rescue,
my heart is too heavy.

I had my share of luck and my share of pain
I often thought I had no future.
I brushed with this angel, I know,
I'll never forget him,
he makes life seem...

different.

My heart is too heavy
for me to get over it
(My heart is too heavy)
All I want to do is run
(My heart is too heavy)
Come to my rescue,
my heart is too heavy.

You, if you can still listen to me,
tell me whom I should speak to.3

Love is stronger than that.
If you are the angel I believe in,
then I know to whom I shall return (from there)4
Ooooh

(My heart is too heavy)
My heart, my heart is too heavy
(My heart is too heavy)
I know, all I can do is run
(My heart is too heavy)
Oh, oh
Come to my rescue,
my heart is too heavy,
far too heavy,
far too heavy.

  • 1. sounds a bit like the "I think I thought I saw you try" in "losing my religion" Regular smile
  • 2. word for word that would be "(things are) too heavy in my heart" or "(I feel) too heavy in my heart", but I can't think of a better equivalent
  • 3. that's what the French says, but what she means by that is not very clear
  • 4. Terribly awkward sentence. I suppose it means "once I get over my problems, I know I shall return to you (assuming you're the proper kind of angel)" or something like that

Mmm... She overdid the poetry a bit, in my opinion.
